Kutch Travel — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before planning your Kutch trip.

What is the best time to visit Kutch?+
October to February is the best time. The Rann Utsav festival runs from November to February, with the White Rann at its most spectacular on full-moon nights. The weather is cool and pleasant across all destinations. Avoid April to June due to extreme heat.
How many days are enough to explore Kutch?+
3-4 days is ideal to cover the main destinations — White Rann, Dholavira, Bhuj heritage, and Mandvi. For artisan villages and spiritual sites, plan 5 days. A quick weekend trip (2 days) can cover White Rann and Bhuj. We offer 1N/2D to 4N/5D packages — see our tour packages.
Do I need a permit to visit the White Rann?+
Yes — a Rann Utsav entry permit is required to enter the White Rann (Dhordo) area during the festival season. Our team helps arrange permits as part of your tour package, so you don't have to worry about logistics.
Is Kutch safe for solo female travellers?+
Yes — Kutch is very safe for solo travellers including women. Locals are warm and helpful. We provide vetted drivers, secure accommodations, and 24×7 support throughout your journey for complete peace of mind.
Which destinations should not be missed in Kutch?+
The must-visit destinations are White Rann (the iconic salt desert), Dholavira (UNESCO Harappan site), Mandvi (beach & Vijay Vilas Palace), Kala Dungar (highest viewpoint), and Smritivan Museum (world-class architecture). If time permits, add Nirona Village for Rogan art and Bhuj heritage walks.
How do I reach Kutch?+
By Air: Bhuj Airport (BHJ) — direct flights from Mumbai. By Train: Bhuj Railway Station — direct trains from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi. By Road: Excellent highways from Ahmedabad (~6 hours), Rajkot (~4 hours), Mumbai (~14 hours). We provide pickup from any of these arrival points.
Are the destinations far apart? Do I need a vehicle?+
Yes — a private AC vehicle is essential in Kutch. Destinations are spread across a large area (e.g. Bhuj to Dholavira ~250 km, Bhuj to Mandvi ~60 km). Public transport is very limited and unreliable for tourist routes. We offer all-inclusive vehicle rental and one-way taxi services.
Can you customize a tour covering specific destinations only?+
Absolutely — every tour we plan is fully customizable. Tell us which destinations you want to visit, your group size, dates, and budget — we'll craft the perfect itinerary. Many travellers focus on the White Rann + Bhuj + Mandvi combination, while others prefer the cultural villages or spiritual sites. WhatsApp us your wish list to get started.
