Four days is the sweet spot for Kutch. It is enough to see the White Rann at sunset, the 5,000-year-old city of Dholavira, Bhuj’s palaces and the beach at Mandvi — the four faces of Kutch — without spending every day in the car. This Kutch itinerary for 4 days follows the route of our 3 Nights / 4 Days package, with distances, overnight stops, prices and tips for each day.

This is our 3 Nights / 4 Days Kutch package — the most complete trip short of five days. Not sure four days is right? Compare options in how many days you need for Kutch.
Day 1 — Bhuj to the White Rann
Pickup from Bhuj railway station, airport or bus stand, then a drive of about 85 km (around 1.5 hours) north to Dhordo. Check in, freshen up, and head out to the White Rann for sunset, when the endless salt flats turn gold and then pink. In the evening, enjoy the Tent City atmosphere — folk music, dance and stalls of Kutchi embroidery, Rogan art and hand-block prints. Dinner and overnight near the White Rann.
- Timing tip: reach the salt flats well before sunset to find a quiet spot away from the crowd.
- Permit: carry photo ID and arrange the White Rann entry permit — see our permit guide.
- Want to stay in the Tent City itself? Compare it with other stays in our Tent City vs Bhuj hotel guide.
Day 2 — Kala Dungar, Road to Heaven and Dholavira
After breakfast, drive up Kala Dungar (the Black Hill), the highest point in Kutch at 462 m, for a panoramic view over the Rann, and visit the Dattatreya Temple at the top. Then comes the most cinematic drive in Gujarat: the ~30 km Road to Heaven across the white salt flats to Khadir Bet.
Spend the afternoon at Dholavira, the Harappan city that became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021 — its citadel, reservoirs and museum — and the Fossil Park nearby. Watch the sunset over the Rann and stay overnight near Dholavira.
- Why stay overnight here: Dholavira is far from Bhuj, and staying nearby gives you time at the site without rushing. More in our Dholavira tour guide.
- Carry water and snacks — shops are few on this stretch.
Day 3 — Back to Bhuj: Smritivan and the Palaces
Drive the Road to Heaven once more in the morning light and return to Bhuj (lunch on your own). Visit Smritivan, the earthquake memorial museum on Bhujia Hill with its seven themed galleries, then the royal side of Bhuj: Prag Mahal, Aina Mahal (the Palace of Mirrors) and the old Bhujia Fort. End the day in Bhuj’s handicraft markets for embroidery, silver jewellery and hand-block textiles, and try local Kutchi snacks. Dinner and overnight in Bhuj.
- Craft lovers: ask us to add a stop at Bhujodi or Nirona, famous craft villages near Bhuj.
- Check opening days: museums and palaces have weekly closing days and timings that can change, so confirm before you go.
Day 4 — Mandvi Beach, Vijay Vilas Palace and Departure
After breakfast, drive about 60 km (around 1.5 hours) to Mandvi, where the desert meets the Arabian Sea. On the way, stop at the 72 Jinalay Jain temple complex. Visit Vijay Vilas Palace, the summer palace of the Maharaos of Kutch, then relax on Mandvi Beach. Camel, ATV and horse rides are available on the beach at extra cost. Return along the wind-farm coastal road for your drop at Bhuj railway station, airport or bus stand.
- Plan your departure: keep enough time for the drive back to Bhuj before an evening train or flight.

Best Time for a 4-Day Kutch Trip
October to March is the best season, with pleasant days and cool nights. The Rann Utsav runs from 5 November 2026 to 4 March 2027, when the White Rann is at its brightest and the Tent City is open. Full-moon nights (23 November and 23 December 2026, 22 January and 20 February 2027) are magical but book out first. Summer days are very hot; if you travel then, sightsee early and late in the day.
