Vande Mataram Memorial in Bhujodi is a unique memorial dedicated to India's freedom struggle. Spread across 12 acres, it combines architecture, art and 4-D technology to take visitors through important episodes of India's journey from the Revolt of 1857 to Independence in 1947.
Vande Mataram Memorial is a purpose-built national memorial located at Bhujodi near Bhuj in Kutch, Gujarat. Built by the Ashapura Foundation, the 12-acre complex uses architecture, art and modern technology to present India's struggle for independence.
The main experience begins inside a replica of India's Parliament Building. Visitors are taken through a 4-D presentation covering 13 important episodes from India's freedom struggle, creating an immersive journey through the events that eventually led to Independence in 1947.
The complex also features India Gate, a replica of the Red Fort known as the Yellow Fort, open grounds and a large statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The Yellow Fort contains an auditorium, library, gallery and cafeteria.
Another major attraction within the complex is Hiralaxmi Craft Park, where artisans from villages around Kutch showcase and sell traditional crafts. This makes it possible to combine India's modern history with the living handicraft traditions of Kutch during the same visit.
The memorial also presents a Light and Sound Show in the evening. The official website currently lists the facade show at 8:00 PM, making an evening visit an additional option for travellers.
