Shyamji Krishna Varma Memorial, popularly known as Kranti Teerth, is a major historical and cultural attraction near Mandvi in Kutch. The memorial commemorates Shyamji Krishna Varma, who was born in Mandvi on 4 October 1857 and became an important figure in India's freedom movement.
Shyamji Krishna Varma spent much of his revolutionary work abroad. In London, he established India House, which became an important centre for Indian nationalists and revolutionaries. He also published The Indian Sociologist, through which he promoted India's cause for independence.
The memorial was inaugurated in 2010 and includes a full-scale replica of the historic India House in London. The complex also preserves historical material related to Shyamji Krishna Varma and his contribution to India's independence movement.
Another important part of the memorial is the resting place associated with Shyamji Krishna Varma and his wife Bhanumati. Their ashes were brought back to India from Switzerland in 2003 and are commemorated at Kranti Teerth.
Spread across approximately 52 acres, the memorial provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about the revolutionary movement and the role played by Indians living and working abroad during the struggle for independence.
