Roha Fort, also known as Roha Sumari Fort, stands on a rocky hill near Roha village in Nakhatrana Taluka. The fort was the historic seat of the Roha Jagir, which once included around 52 villages, making Roha an important political centre in the history of Kutch.
The history of Roha is closely connected with the Jadeja rulers of Kutch. Sahebji, brother of Rao Khengarji I, established Roha village, while his successor Jiyaji built two large water tanks. His son, Thakore Noganji, is credited with building the fort that stands on Roha Hill.
Today, much of the fort survives as atmospheric ruins spread across the hill. The elevated location provides wide views over the surrounding countryside and makes Roha particularly appealing to photographers, history enthusiasts and travellers looking for quieter places away from Kutch's main tourist circuit.
Roha also has a literary connection with the famous Gujarati poet Kalapi, who spent time in the peaceful surroundings of Roha Hill and wrote romantic poetry inspired by the area's natural setting.
