Lakhpat Gurudwara is a historic Sikh place of worship located within the ancient walls of Lakhpat Fort in western Kutch. The site is traditionally associated with Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, who is believed to have visited Lakhpat during his missionary journeys.
Lakhpat Gurudwara is located inside the historic Lakhpat Fort in the western part of Kutch. Lakhpat lies near the Kori Creek and was once an important coastal trading settlement. Today, its massive fort walls and historic religious sites attract travellers exploring this remote part of Kutch.
The Gurudwara has a strong connection with Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. Gujarat Tourism states that Guru Nanak is believed to have stopped at Lakhpat twice during his second and fourth Udasis, his missionary journeys.
The historic shrine preserves objects traditionally associated with Guru Nanak, including wooden footwear, a palkhi, manuscripts and other religious relics. The peaceful atmosphere and continuous devotional hymns make the Gurudwara an important spiritual stop for visitors.
Lakhpat Gurudwara is particularly interesting because of its setting inside the old fortified town. Visitors can combine a visit to the shrine with a walk along the historic fort walls, which offer expansive views of the surrounding landscape and Kori Creek.
The remote location makes Lakhpat a longer excursion from Bhuj, but the journey can be combined with other attractions in western Kutch, including Narayan Sarovar and Koteshwar.
