Kadiya Dhro, also known as Kaliya Dhrow, is one of the lesser-known natural attractions of Kutch. Located near Kodki village, the site is known for its dramatic rock formations and rugged river landscape.
The colourful rock formations have been shaped over time by natural processes involving wind and flowing water. Local herders refer to the distinctive formations as “Kotaro”, while the landscape has become increasingly popular among travellers interested in nature, geology and photography.
The contrasting shades of the rocks and the surrounding landscape make Kadiya Dhro particularly attractive for photography. Visitors can walk through parts of the rocky terrain and explore the natural formations, although the terrain is uneven and requires care.
Reaching the site involves an off-road stretch of approximately 4–5 km. Gujarat Tourism recommends a vehicle with good ground clearance, and locally available jeeps can also be used for the approach.
Visitors should carry drinking water and avoid littering because there are limited facilities at the site. Gujarat Tourism also warns that crocodiles have been spotted in the area, so visitors should stay away from water bodies and should not attempt swimming.
Kadiya Dhro is an excellent option for travellers looking to discover a quieter and more adventurous side of Kutch away from the main tourist attractions.
